A Weekend in Ngecha: Igniting Dreams Through Technology

On January 1st, 2025, we launched a new non-profit organization to help train young men and women in rural Africa on tech and entrepreneurship. On January 4th, 2025, Global Impact Innovators (GII) had the privilege of hosting our very first training session in Ngecha, a vibrant village nestled 45 minutes outside Nairobi, Kenya. Known for its rich artistic heritage, Ngecha has long been a hub of creativity. But as we discovered, its young people are also brimming with untapped potential in entrepreneurship and technology.

We spent two transformative days meeting over 100 young men and women, aged 17 to 23. For many, it was the first time hearing about the limitless possibilities that technology offers. The excitement was palpable. Session after session, they peppered us with thoughtful questions about tech careers, entrepreneurship, and the program itself. Their curiosity and hunger to learn left us in awe.

One young woman asked, “How can I use technology to help my family and my village?”. Another young man wondered, “Can we build apps that solve the challenges we face here?” These weren’t just questions—they were sparks of innovation waiting to ignite.

Why Ngecha? Because this village represents so many like it across Africa—places with rich cultures but limited access to resources.

The young people we met proved one thing beyond doubt: the drive and talent are already there. They just need the tools and guidance to turn potential into impact. At Global Impact Innovators, we believe rural Africa is missing out tremendously on this type of training, and we are here to bridge that gap. Ngecha was just the beginning. We’re committed to creating pathways for young innovators to transform their communities and, in turn, the world. As we packed up after the weekend, we left Ngecha inspired and motivated. These young dreamers reminded us why our work matters. They’re the future—and we can’t wait to see what they’ll build.
